Revolutions under Occupation: Nazi Paris, Resistance and Collaboration 

The tour will look at the different ways in which the Occupation transformed the city, how Parisians experienced those changes, and how the themes of tradition and revolution influenced the course of these "dark years" of the capital's history.

Between 1940 and 1944, the Nazi occupation of Paris brought enormous changes to the lives of its citizens. But so too did the policies of the collaborationist French Vichy government, and the activities of resistance groups that waged a "secret war" against them.

Nigel Perrin

THE GUIDE

Nigel Perrin is a PhD student with University of Kent, researching the spatial aspects of Paris under Occupation, and a recipient of Eastern ARC's Digital Humanities Studentship.

 

He is an authority on wartime agents of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) in France, and leads tours on the Paris Occupation for Context Tours.
